Join Drs. Yvonne Steinert and Patricia O'Sullivan, two icons in the field of faculty development in medical education, as they discuss how to co-create curriculum and curricular materials in continuing professional development. In this webinar they will define co-creation/co-design, explain why it is important, and give examples from their vast experience. They will walk us through the exercise of identifying and selecting stakeholders and engaging them in the process. This is one webinar you will not want to miss!
Speakers
Yvonne Steinert, PhD
Yvonne Steinert, PhD, a clinical psychologist and Professor of Family Medicine and Health Sciences Education, is the Richard and Sylvia Cruess Chair in Medical Education and the former Director of the Institute of Health Sciences Education in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at McGill University. She is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, educational research, and the design and delivery of faculty development programs and activities. Her research interests focus on teaching and learning in the health professions, the impact of faculty development on the individual and the organization, professionalism and professional identity formation, and the interplay between culture and health professions education. Dr. Steinert has written extensively on topics related to faculty development and medical education, and she was named to the Order of Canada in 2018 in recognition of her contributions to the advancement of pedagogical principles, faculty development, and new training approaches in medical education.
Pat O'Sullivan, EdD, MS
Patricia S. O’Sullivan, EdD, MS, is Director, Research in Medical Education, Center for Faculty Educators at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine. At UCSF she oversees programs for students, residents, fellows, and faculty to prepare them as scholarly educators and can lead to master’s and doctoral degree programs in health professions education. She created a faculty development program that led to the 2016 ASPIRE for Excellence award from AMEE for UCSF. She participated in the successful UCSF 2022 ASPIRE for Excellence Award for Student Assessment. Dr. O’Sullivan has held volunteer leadership positions in the Association of American Medical Colleges, the American Educational Research Association, and AMEE. Her educational research studies have collaborators from medicine, nursing, pharmacy, and health-related professions and have been recognized by numerous associations and institutions.
