Event Overview

Simulation has become pivotal in the ongoing professional development of healthcare providers, offering a dynamic and safe environment for skill enhancement, knowledge acquisition, and decision-making practice. This session will explore the critical role of in-situ simulation and simulation centers in continuing professional development (CPD), highlighting their effectiveness in refining clinical skills, promoting interprofessional and interdisciplinary teamwork, and improving patient safety. Attendees will gain insights into how simulation-based education can be seamlessly integrated into CPD programs, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence in healthcare. By examining case studies and best practices, participants will learn how to maximize the benefits of simulation centers for professional growth and enhanced patient care.

Dr. Jonathan Pirie is a staff physician and medical educator in the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Professor, University of Toronto. Director of PEM Simulation Program and PEM Simulation Fellowship program. He also is a technology enthusiast, promoting the use of technology to improve clinical practice through the use of online and mobile applications.

Dr. Jabeen Fayyaz, MD, FCPS, MCPS, DCH, CHSE, MHPE, Ph.D. (Sim), MGH IHP, serves as the SimKIDS Medical Director and holds the position of Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. Additionally, she contributes as a PEM Staff Physician at The Hospital for Sick Children and functions as a Sim Educator and Resuscitation Lead within the Division of Emergency Medicine.
