SACME 2025 Call for Abstracts: Advocacy

Abstract deadline extended to October 7, 2024!

Are you a CPD researcher with a project to share? A program director who has conducted data-driven program evaluation? Do you have a completed study or upcoming publication you’d like to highlight to showcase your work? The SACME Program Committee invites you to submit an abstract for oral or poster presentations at the 2025 Society for Academic Continuing Medical Education Annual Meeting, March 16–19, 2025 in Washington, DC

The 2025 theme is Advocacy in Action: Empowering CPD/CE Professionals to Lead Change.

The abstract selection committee will accept research and best practice submissions in the following domains:

Advocating for Our Programs (Examples):

  • Bridging quality improvement (QI) with CPD/CE
  • Implementation science applied to CPD/CE
  • Using data to demonstrate the value and effectiveness of our activities and programs

Advocating for Our Learners (Examples):

  • Effective strategies to improve wellness and workplace resilience
  • Interdisciplinary and inter-professional teamwork
  • Coordination of GME, PGME and CPD/CE milestones

Advocating for the Patients We Ultimately Serve (Examples):

  • Equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in CPD/CE (curriculum development, breaking down barriers, biases, creating cultural safety, etc.)
  • Involving persons with lived experience in CPD/CE development, practice, and research
  • Role in social responsibility in CPD/CE (e.g., climate crisis, social justice, etc.)

Advocating for Ourselves and Our CPD Colleagues (Examples):

  • Developing leadership, scholarship and research competencies of those involved in CPD/CE
  • Expanding our understanding of the fundamentals of learning
  • Creating a roadmap for the development of CPD professionals

Please Note: You are not limited to the examples above; the abstract selection committee will consider topics beyond those listed here and will accept submissions in research in CPD/CE (including works in progress or in the exploratory stages) and best practices and innovations.
