International collaborative programs in CME/CPD are of interest for many North American institutions. However, they pose different types of challenges, in terms of organizational structure, educational design, accreditation, convening, evaluation and sources of funding, but also in the need to address cultural and language barriers to be successful. The longitudinal programs among the workshop facilitators’ institutions (Cleveland Clinic and Evi-Med) offer a sequential, mostly asynchronous curriculum, delivered to large audiences in their native languages. An active learning experience is provided through social interaction and reflection, using social learning analytics algorithms like the ones used by social networking applications (LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.) as well as friendsourcing (Facebook) and crowdsourcing (Netflix, Amazon). Participants will learn more about the type of international programs to be used as examples in pre-reading materials. During the live session, didactic presentations describe the specific joint experiences of the facilitators, followed by breakout sessions where participants can reflect on how to implement similar programs at their own institutions, and a plenary session to summarize results afterwards. A follow-up asynchronous discussion forum to exchange experiences and doubts among participants and with the facilitators will be available.  The workshop will serve professionals from institutions with interest in implementing international educational programs, or with current international programs who want to benchmark and improve based on the experience of other institutions.
