Assessing and Addressing Well-Being and Burnout in Our Systems: The Critical Role of Continuous Professional Development as Leader and Change Agent (WB-07)
Tuesday, March 14, 2023, 1:00PM - 4:00PM Central Time
Workshop Registration Fee is $50 for all annual meeting registrants
Note this workshop is best conducted in-person only and will take place live in Nashville on the day before the main conference begins. A live-stream option is not available.
While CME/CPD providers are not expected to be content experts in well-being and burnout, they are expected to ensure that integrity and evidence-informed best practice are imbued in the process of designing and delivering education that addresses these issues. The aim of this workshop is to enable learners to competently assess whether practice gaps have been identified using the latest conceptualizations and assessments of well-being and burnout, and ensure that those gaps will be addressed according to the evidence. The workshop will engage learners in a realistic examination of and provide tools to address three of the most salient questions facing CME/CPD providers:
1. How do we address with leaders, faculty, and stakeholders the discrepancies in the literature regarding how burnout and well-being are defined and measured, including the instruments commonly used by major medical organizations?
2. How do we address change at the organizational level, in addition to the individual level (ie, self-care), through CME/CPD?
3. In what ways can CME/CPD providers help lead well-being related change from within their organizations, further demonstrating their strategic value?
Pre-workshop, participants will complete asynchronously two pre-readings and an instructor-recorded lecture of didactic content (< 20 minutes).
