Session Objectives

  1. Evaluate your own views on challenging CE topics and understand how they align or differ from those of your team, planners, faculty, and learners.
  2. Recognize and discuss potential sources of tension that may arise during the planning and delivery of CE activities in a politically diverse environment.
  3. Develop strategies to facilitate inclusive and respectful discussions that acknowledge and bridge political differences among participants.
  4. Identify strategies to respond and not react in politically charged conversations.

Presenters

Ajay Sethi, PhD, MHS

Dr. Ajay Sethi’s research interests lie broadly in the study of infectious diseases. His studies aim to identify modifiable behavioral and structural factors associated with transmission and morbidity and mortality if infection is established. He works in the areas of HIV/AIDS, COVID-19, healthcare-associated infections, the microbiome, and addressing public health misinformation.

Barbara Anderson, MS

Barbara Anderson, MS is currently the Director of the Office of Continuing Professional Development in the School of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She also directs the University of Wisconsin-Madison Interprofessional Continuing Education Partnership (ICEP). Barbara has led ICEP from its inception in 2015. Today, ICEP is a comprehensive interprofessional continuing education program meeting the needs of healthcare professionals throughout Wisconsin and beyond. Barbara, with more than 20 years of experience in continuing medical education, is a passionate leader focused on reaching healthcare professionals with educational activities that change practice and meet the high standards set by Joint Accreditation and other accrediting bodies.
