Implementation Science Models for Aligning Health Professions Education with Health System NeedsThursday, October 28, 2021, 2:00 - 3:00 PM CT
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) can be utilized to advance health care delivery and improve patient care. In a recently released National Academy of Medicine (NAM) Perspectives Paper, Drs. David Price, Dave Davis, and Gary Filerman posit that new approaches, (beyond ‘traditional educational planning’) are needed to capture the interest of health system leaders, improve collaboration between health systems leaders and CPD, and meaningfully contribute to the development of the continuously learning health system. They discuss three potential frameworks that could be adapted to approach redesigning CME in health care enterprises through an implementation science lens. These models, and tools for their deployment, will be shared and discussed during our next Virtual Journal Club session.
Questions for reflection and discussion:
- What complex health care problems is your health care system trying to tackle?
- How might these models help you address these initiatives, from the frame of reference of your health care system leadership?
